Can you cancel a WavStay reservation and get a refund?

Reservations can be cancelled with no service fees, as long as the host as not accepted the booking request. If you request to cancel after the reservation has been accepted by the host, the restriction of the reservations cancellation policy selected by the host become enforced.

What are the 4 types of WavStay cancellation policies?

Strict: Full refund if cancellation is within 48 hours of booking

(less credit card transaction fee) avg %3-6

Moderate: Full refund 7 days prior to arrival, except fees.

Flexible: Full refund 14 days prior to arrival, except fees.

Long Term: Only applies to reservations 28 nights or longer.
A 30 day notice is required in order to receive a full refund for a long term reservation. If canceled within the 30 days of check-in date, the first month of the reservation is paid to the host.
The guest is required to pay for 30 days following the date of the cancellation or up to the end of the original booking if the guest decides to leave during the stay.

Cleaning fees are always refunded if the reservation is canceled before check-in.

What if WavStay or a Host has cancelled my reservation?

If a Host cancels a reservation. Guest payments can be transferred to a new reservation or a full refund is issued.

As a Host Is there a penalty for cancelling a reservation after its booked?

Host Cancellation Penalties fee:

WavStay offers your first cancellation within a 6 month period free.

Cancellations to a confirmed guest before 7 days prior to check-in will incur a $50 fee.

Host – How to issue a refund:

As a Host you can send a refund to a guest after check in and once the funds have been transferred to your account. Long into your profile and hit Request Guest Refund. Once you choose the reservation you want to refund.

When will my refund be deposited into my account?

Refunds can take from 1-15 business days to process. The refund is requested directly the day you cancel. Check your account for updates.

What happens if Host doesn’t respond to my booking request?

A reservation request can expire if the host didn’t respond within 24 hours, or can be declined by the host. If this happens, no charge is made for the reservation and you’re free to book with another host.

REFUNDS

It’s important to know that WavStay always has the final say when it comes to refunds. WavStay will always do its part to help dissolve any disputes or issues between a host and guest.

Cleaning fees:

Cleaning fees are always refunded if the reservation is canceled before check-in.

The WavStay service fee:

Refunds are given if a guest cancels within 48 hours of booking the reservation or at least 24 hours before check-in. 

What if my trip ends early do I still pay for the rest of the nights? 

If the guest decides to depart early the additional WavStay fees will be refunded for nights not spent 24 hours after the cancellation. However the cancellation policy by the host will still be in effect.
